This workshop series explores the wisdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. We will study a composition that is commonly recited in collective settings, Salok Mahala 9. This bani is composed by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, and according to tradition, he composed it while imprisoned and awaiting execution in New Delhi. We will explore this text in the context of its composition and draw out interesting Gurman perspectives, including ideas related to theology, politics and society.
The next workshop in this series will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 5:00- 7:00 pm at Columbia University. We will translate and discuss the text for one hour, followed by an artistic activity. All ages are welcome!
